We were doing really well with a routine - getting up early, working out, eating better and things were going great - then life happens.
My dad got sick, fell and injured himself in his home and ended up in the ICU. I flew out of state to help take care of him at the hospital, then at his home. He needed more help then I could provide so we got him into a rehab facility. Unfortunately he was not getting any better and continued to have health problems and decline at the facility.

We ended up getting him to our home in Texas on hospice where he passed away peacefully the day before Thanksgiving. The past four years have been a whirl wind of emotions, stress and unknown terriorty. In 2019, we moved to Texas from Arizona, had a new baby, my wife's mom passed away, my mom passed away in 2020 and one of our three dogs died, 2022 another dog and now my dad is gone in 2023. Our "support" is no longer here. What do we do?

This is where things get weird.. you just have to continue. We just have to keep on swimming and keep going. I've taken the rest of the year off of work to focus on what comes next.

My dad wanted people to know that "he had a good run" - I'm hoping we can all say the same at the end. For me, "Good run" means returning to the habits we were trying to build before, during and after all this chaos.. Be sure to hug a loved one tight!
